Semester registration

You can enroll a semester by paying the student union fee and advising fee within a given period of time. A student cannot enroll more than four semesters.

Changing course registration and dropping courses

You can enroll a semester by paying the student union fee and advising fee within a given period of time. A student cannot enroll more than four semesters.

Change of grades

Please contact your professor for change of grades.

Retaking a course

Except for communications and modules, you may take courses again only if your grade is C+ or below.

Course evaluation

Enter your evaluation in IGSE program in the notified period during the semester. Those who did not complete the evaluation will not be able to access to their grades until they are finalized.

Waiver courses

If you took a course within 5 years that is same or similar to a required course and your grade in the course was above B, you are eligible to submit the course waiver form. Please consult your advisor before your submission.

Waiver courses (attendance)

  • Practical Teaching Methodology 1, 2: If you have completed a CELTA course within 5 years, you are eligible for waiver from Practical Teaching Methodology 1 or 2.
  • Communication(S, W), module: If your English proficiency (spoken communication and written communication each) is evaluated as a native speaker of English from IGSE faculty, you will be notified so in each semester.

<Communication & Module Course Waiver Process>

  • Step 1 : Enrolled in speaking, writing and module courses that you are assigned to, and choose you module course.
  • Step 2 : After the semester begins, when professors let you know that you are exempted from the skills course, fill out the form and submit it to the Office of Academic Affairs.
  • Step 3 : You can change your course enrollment to exemption courses in the school admin program during the add/drop period.
  • Students who receive waivers will be given pass/fail, instead of grades for exempted skills courses. Students will receive credits, but they won't be counted in their GPA.

Official absence

To apply for official absence, you must comply with the Article 30 of Student Affairs and Services Management Regulations and submit the required documents. The Department Head and Dean of Academic Affairs must approve for an official absence.

The fourth absence means an automatic failure for the class

  • For Skills Courses

The seventh absence will lead to automatic failure for the course for the semester

Buying textbooks

Check the course syllabus of the course you are interested in at the IGSE Haksa program and/or contact the course instructor. Use Kyobo or any other internet bookstores.

Department transfer

The transfer is open at the end of the first semester only. Grade average eligible for the transfer is above B+. Please contact your advisor first.

Academic warning

Academic warning is an indication that a student's scholastic record is unsatisfactory. Students who receive grade F in 6-credits or whose cumulative
grade point average (GPA) falls below 3.0 during any semester will be placed on academic warning. Student who has more than 2 academic warnings
will be expelled from IGSE.

Requirements for degree award

  • Must complete 63 credits including required courses in 4 semesters
  • The cumulative grade point average (GPA) must be above 3.0 (The certificate of completion will be awarded to the students whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) is less than 3.0.)
  • Submission of thesis or project successfully

Quit school

Contact your advisor or IGSE faculty/staff when you feel you have any reason to quit IGSE.

Issue of certificates

  • Charge: 500 KRW (Korean version), 1,000 KRW (English version)
  • Please use a kiosk in the main building lobby or online system.
  • For sealed documents, please ask the Office of Academic Affairs.

Student ID card

  • To re-issue your ID card using 'Student ID Cards' board in Online Service Center. (Fee: 15,000 KRW)
  • Please return your student ID card when you take a leave of absence or graduate.
